There’s something about every wedding that invites us to pause; to reflect on our life while watching the story of another’s unfold before us. Sometimes we have to go looking for it, but it’s always there waiting for us to discover the magic.
Emily & Chris’ wedding in particular marked a funny season for us. We were finally changing the name of our company from Q Avenue Photo to Brad & Jen and as fate would have it, Emily & Chris’ wedding was at her parents house…on Q Avenue. No association. Just pure coincidence.
It felt like fate. An invitation into the beginning of a new chapter in their lives and the end of one in ours.
We didn’t show up to fancy letterpress, perfect linens, and expensive flatware. We arrived to welcomed hugs, exchanging of gifts, family recipes and friends working together to create an intimate backyard oasis. We learned about Emily’s childhood by exploring the pictures that hung on in the family home. We watched friends, grandparents, nieces, and nephews embrace rain, laugh through soaked ponchos, and get lost in Emily & Chris’ personal vows. We ate popcorn made from the kernels of Chris’ family crop. And just when we needed the rain to hold, it did.
Magic ya’ll.
It’s a funny feeling standing somewhere realizing you’re exactly where you were meant to be at exactly the time you were supposed to be there.
I’m certain we weren’t the only ones who felt it that day.
Thank you Emily & Chris. We’ll be forever grateful.
