I remember the speeches….being crouched down behind Robbie’s grandmother waiting for the mic to turn on and listening to her proud whispers as she shared stories of Robbie as a child.
While I wasn’t surprised by her words, I remember feeling this overwhelming sense of thankfulness….not just because we had gotten to know Robbie & Mara ourselves…but because we were here (on arguably the most memorable day of their life) listening to their kin tell stories…beyond Robbie flying Mara to a remote glacier to propose, Mara becoming a doctor, or traveling the world together …but soul stories…stories that are 2 decades old….stories that shaped who Robbie and Mara are today and how they became selfless, adventurous, spontaneous, purposeful, and strong.
It was heavy moment…and every person that listened to these stories echo off the walls of the tent felt it’s weight.
Knowing Mara and Robbie is a gift….but understanding them through the eyes of their family was an honor and there are no words to express how thankful we are to have captured this day.
