People ask us often if we still love shooting weddings.
The short answer is yes….but it’s hard to give the short answer when we talk about these stories.
A friend of ours recently gave a speech that shed some pretty intense perspective onto his wedding day…and most wedding days at that…
“It’s not often that all of our loved ones are all together in one space. Most of the time this happens twice….at your wedding and at your funeral”
Whoa.
So that means that the two of us are capturing moments, not between just the bride and the groom, but between them and their people. Moments that could only happen once…on this day…when they became husband and wife.
It changes everything.
It allows us to see things differently…as if these moments were small pieces of fleeting treasure that needed to be bottled up and saved forever.
Like the way Ross’ parents looked across the aisle and exchanged proud smiles with MC’s parents. Or watching Ross search for words through tears after MC read her vows. Or all the siblings dancing with one another and sharing cigars with a bride around a campfire.
These moments are huge. Moments that only happen once. And the reasons we still are head over heals about making images for people like MC and Ross.
