2013 Recap

to be honest, it’s hard to talk about our year…

we’re still catching up, unpacking our bags, learning what it’s like to be home again and sitting in the quietness of ourselves.

what we can tell you is that 2013 was a really, really good year full of hard work, unfathomable blessings, and scenery we never thought we could see in one year’s time. and we are incredibly thankful.

but right now… we’re thankful to just be home.  digesting these images.  laughing through favorite memories.  talking though our low moments and celebrating our successes. learning more about who we are as a team and learning that there’s always more room for God to work in our lives.

we traveled for 22 weeks of the year between 15 states.  every opportunity we had to travel, we took.  we’re not rolling in the dough here… we made a lot of sacrifices to make room for gas, tickets, and Airbnbs…but every risk we took, every sacrifice we made, every long plane ride, and argument over who was going to drive next….was worth it.

we learn a lot about ourselves while traveling.  and although images from the road gives anyone a sense of wanderlust, traveling is always a challenge. it never goes the way you think, but once you let go and let a trip run it’s course… it’ll give back to you things you’d never imagine.

Steinbeck says, “a journey is like marriage. the certain way to be wrong is to think you control it”

I suppose that’s why we like traveling so much.  we give up control… and just learn to experience together… and through that… we learn more about ourselves…more about each other…and our hearts continue to grow.
