“….We had been driving all day long back to Nashville from Arkansas. We were exhausted and were arguing some on the drive back, so we decided to go to a park and talk for a bit before we went home. We had an amazing conversation and it went really well. Betsy was ready to go home, but I kinda wanted to hang out for a bit, so I started walking off into the park, knowing she would inevitably follow me. It was late and so I walked for a little bit and soon…she caught up. Almost instantly when she got over to me three sprinklers went off directly where we were standing. They were the only sprinklers in the whole park that went off at that moment. I held her there and we laughed and ended up completely soaked. I love that memory so much. In a lot of ways I feel like it was God giving us that…”
There’s a soft spot in our heart when we think about Betsy and Stephen. Two of the most kind, honest, and loving people. It’s hard to do them justice with words…or even pictures for that matter. But what we can say is this… their love is a shape shifter…founded on stories that molded their relationship into something real, something meaningful…something good.
“Stephen and I were great friends (and neighbors) before we started dating. One night we sat on the floor in his piano room and talked for hours. He told me of his parents marriage and what example they are to him and how he hopes to be that for his wife one day. He then thought he was being incredibly smooth by asking if there were any love interests between our two houses. I said that I had no idea because I didn’t want to tell him first! He smiled his great big smile and said, “I think you’re pretty great.” It was just so simple and easy… I am so thankful he told me how he felt.”
Two souls willing to go deeper, to dream, to wrestle through words, and run through sprinklers. What a gift to find in another.
The images below tell the beginning of a new story…a story that will gain in value over time….a warm Kentucky evening glowing through Stephen’s smile and echoing through Betsy’s infectious laughter …a story that will be told over and over and over again.
